Embellished Applique Thumbs Up With Bling Face Mask

Safety is paramount for our new normal.

With self-touching being one of human's habits, this one of a kind mask is a stunning note to self, reminding not to touch the face, to avoid bacteria and viruses entering our bodies.

So, to make a great looking, good quality, artistic, playful, and long-lasting face mask, which serves the wearer well and brightens up the wearer's mood, it matters that I rethink, and adopt creative ways, which I can upcycle and reuse as much discarded materials as possible. 

Mindfully, using each piece of material to create a one of a kind statement safety wear, that is different from the norm.

So, I took an artistic approach by creating a face mask handmade entirely from upcycled rayon metallic fabrics, together with limited edition Osborne & Little textile fabric. I have also used beads, reclaimed part of jewellery, acrylic beads, gold disc beads and ribbon trimmings, to create an embellished design which looks like a hand wearing a glove with painted artificial nails making a thumbs-up hand gesture. These embellished designs are featured on both sides of the facemask.

Thumbs up to staying strong, hopeful, respecting and maintaining a safe distance during these uncertain times. 

This mask is constructed from multiple layers of soft, comfortable, breathable, repurposed fabrics which form the design. Beneath the assembled parts and lining is 100%  cotton.

It also features para-cord ties which can be tied and adjusted around the head and neck to the wearers preferred fit.

This mask is not N95 or FDA rated, it is specifically designed as preventative safety wear to shield your face, mouth, and nose. The wearing of a face mask such as this could still reduce the transmissibility of viral particles by a small but significant amount, enough to make a difference to you and others.

This face mask can be worn as a headpiece when not in use as safety wear.
