The day before I turned 45, I sat with my memories quietly scrolling through years of my creative life. In that moment, I realised something I hadn’t allowed myself to fully see before: despite everything, I never stopped creating. Even in the seasons where I felt lost, where life felt heavy and expectations drowned out my inner voice, something within me remained alive.

I held onto hope in the only way I knew how tightly, like something sacred. And through every tear, every moment of doubt, I was still planting something… even when I couldn’t yet see it growing.

It’s been a while since I last shared my thoughts, but this piece marks a return to what has always called me creation. Rooted in intention and inspired by the sacred symbolism of beads, this blog explores how every idea begins as a seed, nurtured with patience, discipline, and spirit.

On October 23rd, I had the honour of speaking and exhibiting my work at the “Community Voices” event hosted by Residents Without Borders at Islington Town Hall. It was a day filled with art, history, and inspiration, from meeting His Worship Cllr Jason Jackson, Islington’s first Nigerian Mayor, to the trailblazing HW Cllr Valda James, the borough’s first Black woman Mayor. Surrounded by community leaders, creative voices, and Swahili cuisine that warmed the soul, it was truly a celebration of heritage, connection, and progress.

In a world that often rewards speed over stillness, noise over nuance, and virality over vision, choosing to create from a deep sense of consciousness is an act of quiet rebellion and sacred responsibility.
